Windscape is an Open-World Game Coming to Switch, Inspired By Zelda and Goldnen Axe Warrior

HeadUp Games has announced that it will be releasing Windscape for Nintendo Switch on March 27th, 2019. But what is Windscape? Good question.

Windscape is a first-person open-world exploration adventure game, and it takes inspiration from the likes of the Zelda series, as well as Golden Axe Warrior and Secret of Mana. The game wears its influences on its sleeve, quite literally, too, as you can see in the trailer up above where the main character is sporting some duds very similar in colour to our Zelda’s Link.

The game features an open world with monsters to battle, dungeons to explore, and puzzles to solve. There’s even a crafting system which the developer describes as “profound, yet simple to use”.

The game’s developer, Dennis Witte, said:

“Ever since my childhood I was a huge fan of the Zelda series of games, Golden Axe Warrior, Secret of Mana and games in which let you explore a vivid world without time pressures and a too restrictive storyline. Over the past year and a half I’ve been working on my vision of a modern exploration adventure, combining it with my fondness for modern crafting and sandbox games.”

Windscape will release on March 27th for Nintendo Switch, but pre-orders will go live from March 8th. What’s more is that pre-orders will get a nice little 20% discount off the game’s price, though the full pricing has yet to be announced.
